NCAA Game Summary - Oklahoma State vs. Kansas

(Thursday, March 13th)

Final Score: (10) Kansas 77, Oklahoma State 70 (OT)

Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - Andrew Wiggins had 30 points, eight rebounds and three steals and the 10th-ranked Kansas Jayhawks needed overtime to sneak past the Oklahoma State Cowboys, 77-70, in the quarterfinals of the Big 12 Tournament.

Wayne Selden Jr. added 14 points for the Jayhawks (24-8), who will play Iowa State in the semifinals on Friday.

"It was an unbelievable game," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "Two teams competing hard, and certainly I think the first day of the most competitive league in America hasn't disappointed so far."

Le'Bryan Nash ended with 19 points and seven boards for the Cowboys (21-12), who failed to build off an 80-62 victory over Texas Tech in the first round on Wednesday. Phil Forte III and Marcus Smart donated 16 and 14 points, respectively.

Trailing 57-49 with 7:14 left in regulation, Oklahoma State went on an 11-2 run to take the lead. Forte made a 3-pointer during the surge that Markel Brown capped with a layup for a 60-59 edge.

Brown added a 3-pointer with 1:32 remaining to make it 67-65 Oklahoma State. Wiggins responded with a jumper at the other end.

Smart missed a shot from beyond the arc and Wiggins came down with the defensive rebound. Following a timeout, Wiggins missed a 3-pointer. Tarik Black grabbed the offensive rebound and put it back, but the basket came after time had expired.

Kansas outscored Oklahoma State by a 10-3 margin in the extra session.

"Andrew Wiggins, coming out there 41-point game against West Virginia, they played through him tonight and they made tough shots," Smart said. "He earned a lot, he earned all his shots, and you give him credit. He made the baskets when they counted and his teammates went to him. He was hot. He got the ball in the right spot."

Trailing 14-13 with 11 1/2 minutes left in the first half, the Jayhawks put together a 10-2 run to build a seven-point margin.

Wiggins helped Kansas build a 10-point lead, and the score was 32-23 at the half.

The Jayhawks led until Oklahoma State made its run late in the second half.
