GAME NOTES: The Nebraska Cornhuskers pay a visit to the 10th-ranked Michigan Wolverines for a Big Ten Conference clash on Wednesday night.

Nebraska comes into this contest sporting an 11-9 overall record, which includes a 3-5 league ledger. The Cornhuskers had opened Big Ten play with four straight losses, but they have been successful in three of their last four, including huge wins over Ohio State, Minnesota and Indiana. Nebraska has been idle since last Thursday's 60-55 win over the visiting Hoosiers, and the team is still searching for its first true road win of the campaign (0-6).

Michigan recently had an impressive 10-game win streak stopped with a 63-52 loss at Indiana on Sunday. The setback was only the fifth of the season for the Wolverines, and just their first in conference. Michigan has won nine of its 10 home games, including the last five.

The Maize and Blue squeaked by Nebraska in Lincoln back on Jan. 9, 71-70, to take a 9-2 lead in the all-time series. Michigan has won the last five meetings overall.

Nebraska has one of the Big Ten's top scorers on the roster, as Terran Petteway ranks second with his 18.2 ppg. Not just valuable at the offensive end, Petteway grabs 5.3 rpg while also logging 14 blocks and 19 steals. Shavon Shields (11.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg) is the only other player putting up double digits on a consistent basis, and the team as a whole is netting 68.7 ppg thanks to a 35.5 percent effort from 3-point range and a near 71 percent showing at the free-throw line.

Nebraska trailed Indiana 32-19 at the half, but shot 52.4 percent from the field in the second stanza to fight its way back, and eventually prevail in what wound up as a five-point triumph. The Hoosiers were credited with only eight field goals after intermission, only one of which was from long distance. Indiana dominated the glass (31-22), but committed 19 turnovers. Petteway poured in 18 points to pace the Huskers, while Shields (11 points), Walter Pitchford (11 points) and Ray Gallegos (10 points) all hit for double figures as well.

There isn't much Michigan doesn't do well, as the team owns positive differentials in scoring (+11.7), rebounding (+1.8) and turnovers (+2.1). Nik Stauskas is averaging a team-high 17.8 ppg, and help comes from Glenn Robinson III (13.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg) and Caris LeVert (12.0 ppg, 4.2 rpg). Four others net between 5.3 and 9.5 ppg, and the Wolverines are shooting 48.6 percent from the field, which includes a 39.1 percent showing from beyond the arc. They are also a solid free-throw shooting squad, converting almost 75 percent of their attempts.

Michigan put forth a lackluster shooting performance in the recent loss to Indiana, knocking down only 3-of-13 3-point tries and just 18-of-45 field goal attempts in all (.400). Derrick Walton, Jr. paced the club with 13 points, LeVert had a dozen, and Jordan Morgan came up with 10 rebounds. Conversely, the Hoosiers drained 53.5 percent of their total shots, including eight treys.

The Cornhuskers are sure to put their best foot forward in an attempt to pull off the upset and record their first road win of the season. However, the Wolverines are bound to bounce back in a big way from their first Big Ten defeat.
