Kingston, RI (SportsNetwork.com) - Ovie Soko posted a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds, as the Duquesne Dukes notched an 83-71 win over the Rhode Island Rams in Atlantic 10 Conference play inside the Ryan Center.

Reserve L.G. Gill also scored 19 points to help the Dukes (11-13, 3-8 A-10) snap a four-game slide and notch their first win in the month of February. Derrick Colter was next in line with 14 points, followed by Dominique McKoy with 11.

Freshman E.C. Matthews poured in a career-high 32 points for the Rams (11-15, 2-9), who have lost five in a row and remain winless in February. Xavier Munford chipped in with 16 points, while Hassan Martin tallied nine points, 10 rebounds and three blocks in a losing effort.

URI led by as many as seven points after eight minutes of play. However, Duquesne went on to shoot 53.1 percent from the floor in the opening frame as it took a 42-34 lead into the break.

The Dukes put the game away behind a 62-percent shooting effort in the second stanza, which included a 5-of-7 effort from beyond the arc.

Duquesne held a significant 30-2 edge in bench points against the short-handed Rams, who dressed only eight players. The Rams lost despite shooting 53.3 percent from the floor and knocking down 10-of-17 3-pointers for the game.
