GAME NOTES: The Siena Saints welcome the Fordham Rams to the Times Union Center on Monday night in a non-conference tilt.

After losing four straight games spanning from Nov. 24 to Dec. 1, the Siena Saints are looking to continue something of a winning trend, having taken two of the team's last three games.

Fordham, a team that has won three of its last five, is looking to get back on track after suffering a defeat at the hands of Harvard.

The Siena/Fordham series dates all the way back to 1949. The last time these two teams met was in December of 2012 - an 81-75 Fordham victory.

Siena, which lost to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe Canisius earlier this month, recently defeated Hofstra, 67-59, before going on a holiday break. The Saints are looking to rebound from a second-to-last-place finish in the MAAC in 2012-13.

The visiting Rams enter the contest 7-5 on the season and look to pick up a win before Atlantic 10 conference play begins. Against Harvard, the Rams received stellar play from Branden Frazier, who netted a game-high 31 points in the loss to the Crimson. Freshman guard Jon Severe scored 29 points - 27 of which came in the second half. Severe was 5-for-9 shooting from beyond the 3- point line. The Rams pulled within six points, 62-56, nearly midway through the second half, but Harvard was able to pull back ahead on a missed free- throw putback. With 31 seconds left, the Ram cut the Harvard lead to four, but the Crimson hit all eight of their free throws and left the Bronx with a 94-86 win.

Severe leads the Rams in scoring, averaging 20.8 ppg with Frazier not too far behind at 18.9 ppg. Severe is shooting 40.4 percent from 3-point range and has 11 steals on the season. Frazier averages 5.5 rpg and 4.8 apg, and shoots at a 91.1 percent clip from the free-throw line. Mandell Thomas is the third player averaging double digits this season with 13.7 ppg.

Three Saints players scored 14 points apiece in Siena's victory over Hofstra last Monday night. Rob Poole, Lavon Long and Maurice White each did the deed as the Saints held Hofstra to a meager 28 percent shooting percentage in the first half. Hofstra shot 35 percent from the floor for the game, and scored just 59 points, which for the Saints is a testament to the defense since Siena hadn't held a team under 70 points in a contest through the team's first 11 games. Hofstra's leading scorer this season, Zeke Upshaw, shot 2-for-17 from the floor and finished with four points.

Poole is the only Saint this season scoring double digits, coming in at 14.3 ppg. Poole also brings down 6 rpg and is shooting 42 percent on the season. Marquis Wright leads the team with 5.8 apg and 23 steals on the season. The Saints are being outscored 69.7 to 75.5, through their first 12 games.

It's hard to imagine the Saints being able to keep Fordham's up-tempo offense that averages 77.8 ppg under control, especially with the play of Frazier and Severe.

The Sports Network predicted outcome: Fordham 78, Siena 67
