GAME NOTES: Off to their best start in 20 years, the Tulane Green Wave continue play in the Hoops for Hope Classic when they entertain the New Orleans Privateers tonight as Fogelman Arena.

New Orleans is an even 3-3 on the year, posting wins over Selma, Southeastern Florida and Tennessee Temple, and dropping games to New Mexico, Rice and most recently, San Diego on Friday in the first day of this event. The Privateers, who recently made the transition from Division I to Division II, have lost every road game this season (0-3), while winning each of its home games (3-0).

Tulane is 5-0 to this point in the season, marking its best start since the 1991-92 team ran out to a 13-0 mark. The Green Wave opened this event with an 83-41 rout of Alcorn State on Friday, and each of the team's five victories with the exception of one, a 57-55 decision at Navy, have come by rather comfortable margins.

The all-time series between these two Big Easy institutions is knotted at 23-23. New Orleans has won eight of the last 11 meetings, but Tulane won last year's clash in a 57-53 final.

Lovell Cook poured in 16 points as the only Privateer to reach double figures, and as a result his team dropped a 64-56 decision to San Diego on Friday. Not surprisingly, New Orleans struggled to find its rhythm offensively, shooting a dismal 30.5 percent from the field, which included a 4-of-18 effort from three-point range. A 46-29 rebounding deficit also hurt the Privateers' chances at pulling out the win, and they failed to capitalize on the 24 turnovers the Toreros committed in the contest.

Ricky Tarrant's game-high 15 points and Josh Davis' fourth double-double of the season fueled Tulane in its 42-point rout of Alcorn State on Friday night. Tarrant added four rebounds and three assists to his stat line, while Davis finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Green Wave, who shot 52.9 percent from the floor, knocked down 7-of-11 three-pointers, and converted 22- of-28 free throws. A 42-27 rebounding advantage was key, as was a defensive effort that allowed the Braves to connect on just 28 percent of their total shots, including 3-of-19 on three-point tries. Alcorn State also committed 20 turnovers, which Tulane turned into 22 points. Kendall Timmons added 14 points, and Jordan Callahan chipped in a dozen, all in the second half for the Green Wave.

Tulane should have absolutely no problem keeping its perfect record in tact against a New Orleans club that hasn't shown the ability to play competitively against the better teams on its schedule thus far.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Tulane 77, New Orleans 53
