GAME NOTES: The Oakland Golden Grizzlies continue their Horizon League schedule this evening when they pay a visit to Goodman Arena to take on the Cleveland State Vikings.

Oakland has been on the win-loss seesaw since the start of December and has not strung together more than two wins in a row all season. The Grizzlies are just 1-0 outside of Rochester, Michigan. However, the lone victory came in their most recent outing as they opened a three-game road swing with a 77-69 win at Detroit on Saturday.

Goodman Arena has been a tough venue for opponents this season as Cleveland State is 7-1 at home. The Vikings are back on campus after getting tripped up at Youngstown State on Monday, 67-66, which snapped a brief two-game win streak. This contest kicks off a stretch that will see them play three of their next four games on their home floor.

CSU has won all three prior meetings in the head-to-head series with the Grizzlies, who are new to the Horizon League this season. This marks the first matchup between these two teams since 2008-09.

Oakland trailed Detroit by 10 early in the second half and later by three when Juwan Howard, Jr. hit a jumper with 3:08 remaining to give the Titans a 68-65 lead. However, Oakland's Duke Mondy answered right back with a 3-pointer to tie it, and the Grizzlies closed out the contest with an 11-1 run to complete the comeback. Mondy was instrumental in the comeback as he scored 15 of his 18 points in the second half, six of which came in the final 19 seconds. Corey Petros also played a big role as he posted a double-double with a game-high 23 points and 13 rebounds. Travis Bader was next in line with 14 points, while Kahlil Felder tallied 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists. On the season, Bader is averaging a team-best 20.4 ppg and is shooting 41 percent from beyond the arc (85-of-208). Petros (13.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg) and Mondy (12.9 ppg, 5.7 rpg) have also made regular contributions to the stat sheet.

Cleveland State is led by sharpshooter Bryn Forbes, another 41-percent shooter from the perimeter (45-of-109) who is averaging 15.9 ppg. Trey Lewis (12.3 ppg) and Anton Grady (10.3 ppg) round out the team's double-digit scorers. Forbes and Lewis tallied 17 and 15 points, respectively, against Youngstown State, but the Vikings were unable to overcome 21 turnovers, which the Penguins turned into 28 points. Lewis was responsible for five of those turnovers and Grady had seven, although Lewis did connect on 5-of-6 threes for the game. Marlin Mason chipped in with 10 points off the bench for the Vikings, who shot 51.1 percent from the floor as a team and made 9-of-17 attempts from 3-point range.

Oakland finally notched its first road win, but making it two in a row will not be an easy task in this venue, particularly if Forbes and Lewis get hot from long range.
