GAME NOTES: The three-day Fresno State Classic draws to a close this afternoon, as the Bulldogs host the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks at the Save Mart Center.

For the third time in the month of November the Bulldogs scored in excess of 90 points on Saturday, going into overtime for the second time as well, as they pulled out a 96-86 victory against the Roadrunners of CS-Bakersfield. The win was the second in the last three games as FSU dropped the opening game of this tourney to the Drake Bulldogs on Friday, 84-74.

Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks are a team with a total of just two wins in the first seven outings of 2013-14. Competing in this event for the first time, NAU opened with a 61-50 setback to CS-Bakersfield on Friday and followed that up with a disappointing 76-56 final versus Drake yesterday.

In terms of an all-time series between these programs, the Bulldogs have never lost to NAU in five previous encounters.

The 'Jacks missed all six of their 3-point tries in the first half against Drake and shot just 32.3 percent from the floor in the period, 39.3 percent in the game overall, as they suffered the lopsided setback. Quinton Upshur was the only starter to score in double figures for NAU as he dropped in a game- high 20 points, followed by Kris Yanku and Christopher Miller with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Defensively, the team allowed the Bulldogs to connect on both 52.6 percent from the floor and 11-of-20 (.550) behind the 3-point line.

Upshur is now second on the unit in scoring on the season with 15.3 ppg, although his 38.5 percent shooting from the field could stand some attention. Max Jacobsen is just ahead of him on the scoring list with 15.7 ppg as he comes in second on the rebounding chart with 5.4 per outing. Aaseem Dixon checks in with 11.4 ppg, but like Upshur he too has had trouble finding the mark from the floor (.347). Scoring a collective 67.4 ppg, the Lumberjacks are a unit that is struggling on the perimeter with just 27.0 percent accuracy.

The Bulldogs had to go to overtime against CSUB on Saturday, but once there the hosts shut down the Roadrunners, limiting them to just 1-of-7 shooting from the floor, en route to the double-digit win. Fresno State had a total of six players score in double figures, while the other two to see action were both held scoreless as Allen Huddleston led the way with 23 points. Cezar Guerrero accounted for 22 points, Paul Watson and Marvelle Harris 14 apiece, while the latter also cleared 10 rebounds and handed out five assists. Alex Davis and Karachi Edo pitched in with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

In the last three games the Bulldogs have had a different leading scorer each time out as they continue to spread the wealth with a total of five players hitting for double figures through eight games. Harris leads the pack with 16.9 ppg, thanks to his 52.8 percent shooting from the floor and 41.0 percent accuracy beyond the arc, while Guerrero is not only producing 15.0 ppg, he is also tops with 35 assists and 12 steals, making sure his quick hands are always in action for the Bulldogs.

With so many scoring options to choose from the Bulldogs are a tough matchup for many opponents, and that should be the case here again this afternoon as they close out their own event on a positive note.
