Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Kenny Gaines netted 14 points and blocked two shots as the Georgia Bulldogs cruised past the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 66-45, in a Southeastern Conference battle at Stegeman Coliseum.

Marcus Thornton tallied 13 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots for Georgia (17-12, 11-6 SEC). Charles Mann chipped in with 10 points and eight assists for the Bulldogs, who held Mississippi State to its lowest point total this season. Georgia has won three of its last four games played.

Roquez Johnson and Craig Sword each scored nine points to lead Mississippi State (13-17, 3-14). I.J. Ready recorded team highs in both rebounds (six) and assists (four) for Mississippi State, which has dropped 12 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 25.

Georgia connected on 46.4 percent of its shots from the floor in the first half, and made 8-of-13 from the free-throw line to take a 37-24 lead into the midway break. Mississippi State hit 34.8 percent of its field goal tries, and missed all seven 3-point opportunities in the frame.

The home squad hit 40 percent of its shot attempts in the second half, including 4-of-11 from 3-point distance. The visiting Bulldogs dipped a bit down to 33.3 percent shooting in the period, this time missing all eight of their shots from beyond the arc. Georgia outscored Mississippi State, 29-21, in the half to build on an already large lead.

Georgia outscored Mississippi State from 3-point range, 21-0, on the night. The home team also had the edge in points off turnovers, 17-6.
