NCAA Game Summary - Wisconsin at Michigan

(Sunday, February 16th)

Final Score: (21) Wisconsin 75, (15) Michigan 62

Ann Arbor, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Frank Kaminsky poured in 17 of his 25 points in the second half, as No. 21 Wisconsin raced out to an early lead and held on to take down 15th-ranked Michigan, 75-62, at Crisler Arena.

Kaminsky also pulled down a game-high 11 boards, Sam Dekker posted 15 points and nine rebounds, with Josh Gasser adding 13 for the Badgers (21-5, 8-5 Big Ten), winners in four straight.

"We did not change anything (from the last meeting), we just tried to work harder and be better at some of the things we do," said Wisconsin head coach Bo Ryan. "Energywise, we were really good."

Caris LeVert totaled 25 points for the Wolverines (18-7, 10-3), who have dropped three of their last five. Nik Stauskas had 11 points and Glenn Robinson III picked up 10 in a losing effort.

"We were getting stops but we weren't getting any scores," said LeVert. "I found some open lanes and I just knocked some shots down."

Michigan remained in a first-place tie with Michigan State, as the Spartans lost to Nebraska, 60-51.

Robinson's long jumper pulled the Wolverines to 52-47 with 6:54 remaining, and LeVert connected twice from the line to shrink the deficit to three less than a minute later to finish off a 9-0 run.

Kaminsky responded with consecutive baskets to open up a seven-point margin, then countered two foul shots from Stauskas with a two-pointer and Wisconsin led 58-51 with 3:48 on the clock. Kaminsky added a free throw and Gasser sank a trey and it was 62-51 with 3:13 showing.

A second and final trey from Kaminsky brought the lead to 65-52 with 2:17 to play, and though Michigan was forced to foul from there, the strategy backfired.

The Badgers went 10-for-10 from the line to lock up the victory.

Wisconsin led 7-2 early on, and pushed that edge to 14-4 on a Kaminsky jumper just prior to the five-minute mark.

Kaminsky fired away once more to give the Badgers a 23-11 edge with 8:13 left in the half, and a Ben Brust triple boosted the visitors' advantage to 31-16 with 4:40 showing.

LeVert's shot from distance pulled Michigan to 34-19 at the break.

Nigel Hayes' triple extended Wisconsin's lead to 42-26 just over four minutes into the second half, but Michigan made a brief charge to reduce its deficit below double digits. Jordan Morgan's bucket and free throw brought the hosts within 45-36 after the eight-minute mark.

Game Notes

Wisconsin posted its first win at Crisler since a 53-52 decision on Feb. 23, 2011 ... The Badgers have won six of their last eight games in Ann Arbor, and emerged victorious on Sunday thanks to only two turnovers on 60 possessions ... Michigan set dubious season records in the opening 20 minutes, scoring the fewest points in any first half and falling behind by its largest margin.
