NCAA Game Summary - Stony Brook at Siena

(Tuesday, March 18th)

Final Score: Siena 66, Stony Brook 55

Albany, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Rob Poole scored a game-high 20 points as the Siena Saints sacked the Seawolves of Stony Brook, 66-55, in the first round of the College Basketball Invitational at the Times Union Center.

Also scoring in double figures for the Saints (16-17) was Brett Bisping with 17 points, adding six rebounds to the cause as well.

The Seawolves (23-11) were led by Jameel Warney who not only registered a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, he also logged a game-high five blocked shots as well. Anthony Jackson pitched in with 13 points off the bench and Carson Puriefoy 10 in the setback.

Siena led by as many as six points in the first half, but after Imoh Silas knotted the scored at 31-31 with under two minutes remaining before halftime, Jackson stepped up and converted a 3-pointer for Stony Brook, pushing the visitors out to a 34-31 advantage at the break.

The Saints heated up in the second half, putting together a 12-0 run to assume control and cruise to the double-digit win. After converting 12 field goals through the first 20 minutes of action, Stony Brook was limited to just eight baskets in the second half, not to mention a mere 2-of-2 at the free-throw line.

Despite having Evan Hymes, Javion Ogunyemi and Maurice White all ejected for leaving the bench just minutes into the second half, the Saints still kept their composure as they turned the ball over a total of just six times on the night.

With the victory, Siena advances to the quarterfinals on Monday to face the winner of the Hampton/Penn State meeting.
