GAME NOTES: The IUPU-Fort Wayne Mastodons will try to end their regular season on a three-game win streak when they travel to face the Nebraska Omaha Mavericks in a Summit League clash at Ralston Arena.

IPFW has won two games in a row entering this contest, and has come away victorious in three of the team's last four altogether, including a 65-56 win over Western Illinois Thursday night. The Mastodons can't catch conference leader North Dakota State for the top spot, but they can attain the second seed in the conference.

Nebraska Omaha finally put a stop to its four-game losing streak with a victory on Thursday over conference basement dweller IUPUI, 88-66. The Mavericks can play the role of spoiler as IPFW goes for the second seed headed into the conference tournament.

IPFW leads the brief all-time series over Nebraska Omaha, 4-1. The Mastodons narrowly edged out the Mavericks on their home floor earlier this season, 86-82, to build on their series advantage.

The Mastodons did most of their damage against Western Illinois in the first half, leading the Leathernecks as the teams broke for the intermission, 29-22. The home WIU squad couldn't shave off any points in the second period, and the Mastodons won their second contest in a row. Luis Jacobo led with 19 points in the win, adding 11 rebounds for the double-double. Joe Reed came off the bench to score 11 points before fouling out, and Steve Forbes tallied 10 points for IPFW.

Jacobo continues to lead the Mastodons in scoring this season with a 14.7 ppg average on 44.9 percent shooting from the field. The forward also records 4.4 rpg and shoots over 40 percent from 3-point range. Forbes checks in at second in the scoring category with 12 ppg with a team-high 20 blocked shots, and Mo Evans is just shy of the double-digit scoring mark at 9.8 ppg. Pierre Bland tops the squad at 121 assists on the year, and Reed leads in rebounding with 5.4 rpg.

Nebraska Omaha finally snapped its four-game losing streak with a 22-point demolition of IUPUI at home in the team's second to last conference clash. Mike Rostampour led the Mavericks with 18 points and nine rebounds, and Marcus Tyus wasn't too far off the pace with 17 points. Justin Simmons chipped in 15 points in the win and John Karhoff contributed 13 with four boards and four assists. Omaha shot 52.2 percent from the floor in the contest.

C.J. Crater leads the team in scoring this season with a 13.7 ppg average, followed closely by Karhoff's 13.1 ppg. Carter is second in total assists with 95 behind Devin Patterson's 97 on the year. Patterson checks in with 10.2 ppg, just barely ahead of Simmons' 10.1 ppg total. Rostampour leads the Mavericks on the season with a 6.8 rpg mark, and Matt Hagerbaumer tops the team with 31 blocked shots.

IPFW narrowly beat Omaha in Fort Wayne earlier this season, and the Mavericks are certainly a strong home team. But with placement in the conference tournament on the line and a strong defensive core, the Mastodons could very well take down the struggling Mavericks at their home arena.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: IPFW 77, Nebraska Omaha 71
