El Paso, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - John Bohannon scored 17 points and ripped down 15 rebounds for the Texas-El Paso Miners, who defeated the Denver Pioneers, 60-54, in double overtime at the Don Haskins Center as part of the Sun Bowl Invitational.

A low-scoring first half ended with the Miners leading, 20-14. They knocked down only 23.8 percent of their field goal attempts, but hit 9-of-14 from the free-throw line and held the Pioneers to just 21.4 percent shooting.

Both teams improved in the second half, with UTEP shooting 38.1 percent and Denver at 37.5 percent. A 3-pointer from Love and a pair of free-throws from Griffin with 1:20 to play pushed Denver to a 46-44 lead but Cooper got two free-throws of his own in the final minute to force overtime.

Neither team had much success in the first extra session, with each scoring just three points and combining to connect on 1-of-7 from the floor.

The Miners were trailing, 54-51 with 3:14 to play in the second overtime but they then ripped off a 9-0 run to close out the game and the victory.
