GAME NOTES: The College Basketball Invitational continues with the quarterfinal round on Monday night, as the Wright State Raiders welcome the Richmond Spiders to the Nutter Center.

The two teams only met once before, with Richmond coming away with a 71-61 win on a neutral floor on Nov. 26, 2010.

Richmond improved to 19-14 on the season following a CBI first-round victory at Bryant last Wednesday, 76-71, shooting 50 percent from the field in the process while draining nine 3-pointers. Cedrick Lindsay was the spark plug in the triumph with a career-high 25 points, going 8-of-12 from the field and 8- of-9 from the free-throw line. Kendall Anthony was a crucial asset off the bench with 15 points, Greg Robbins netted 13, and Darien Brothers chipped in with 10.

The Spiders are typically an impressive scoring team, averaging 70.6 ppg on 44.5 percent shooting, nearly four points greater than what they allow to their opponents (66.8 ppg), and while they are vulnerable on the inside (-5.8 rebounding margin), they make up for it by boasting a +2.8 turnover margin. Brothers is the top offensive threat with 14.3 ppg, doing the majority of his damage from 3-point range (82-of-193, .425). Lindsay runs the point, logging 12.2 ppg, 3.2 apg and 1.3 spg. Rounding out the balanced attack are Anthony (11.8 ppg) and Derrick Williams (11.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg).

Wright State's (22-12) first-round matchup was much more convincing than Richmond's, as it rolled over Tulsa last Wednesday, 72-52, for its first-ever Division I postseason victory after losing in the NCAA Tournament in 1993 and 2007. The Raiders outshot the Golden Hurricane, .473 to .347, and were led by a 15-point effort from Kendall Griffin, who netted 15 points on 6-of-9 from the floor (including 3-of-5 from 3-point range). Jerran Young was strong down low with 14 points and eight rebounds, Miles Dixon poured in 12 points off the bench, while Matt Vest, JT Yoho and Joe Bramanti tallied seven points each.

The Raiders' offensive performance in the first round was one of their best of the season, as they only average 62.0 ppg on the campaign, but they have been able to piece together one of the best seasons in program history by playing great defense, holding opponents to just 58.0 ppg while boasting a +3.2 turnover margin. Cole Darling is the only player to score in double figures on a nightly basis with 11.3 ppg, but he has missed the last eight games with a foot injury. Without Darling, WSU turns to Reggie Arceneaux (9.1 ppg), Young (8.5 ppg) and Dixon (8.3 ppg) to each make larger contributions.

Richmond clearly has more offensive playmakers than Wright State, and if its shooters can get hot, a trip to the semifinals may be in the cards. But the Raiders have played well at the Nutter Center this season (11-4), and another strong defensive effort should carry them into the next round.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Wright State 64, Richmond 62
