NCAA Game Summary - Evansville at Murray State

(Wednesday, December 4)

Final Score: Murray State 65, Evansville 63

Murray, KY (SportsNetwork.com) - A 3-pointer by Jeffrey Moss with 51 seconds remaining in regulation put the Murray State Racers up for good as they claimed a narrow 65-63 win over the Evansville Purple Aces in non-conference action at the CFSB Center.

Moss finished the night with 20 points for the Racers (3-5) as they snapped a three-game slide. Cameron Payne pitched in with 14 points and five assists, followed by Dexter Fields who tallied 11 points for the hosts. Jarvis Williams accounted for just six points, but made up for his lack off offense with a game-high 16 rebounds and four blocked shots.

The Purple Aces (5-3) were led by DJ Balentine with a game-high 25 points and eight assists in the team's third consecutive setback. Egidiju Mockevicius accounted for 12 points, followed by Jaylon Moore and Adam Wing with 10 points apiece.

A close game throughout, MSU claimed a 30-26 lead at the break after shooting 6-of-13 behind the 3-point line in the first half. Evansville, which converted just 2-of-7 at the free-throw line through the first 20 minutes, missed both attempts on the perimeter.

In the second half the Racers, after hitting only 4-of-9 at the free-throw line in the opening frame, again had their issues at the charity stripe with just 5-of-11 accuracy, but Moss managed to make 1-of-2 at the line in the final seconds in order to secure the win.

In a game that featured seven ties and 11 lead changes, Murray State outscored the visitors behind the 3-point line by a 30-6 margin.
