GAME NOTES: With two games remaining on their regular-season schedule, the Fordham Rams will be desperately trying to put an end to a six-game losing streak when they travel to face the Rhode Island Rams in an Atlantic 10 clash at the Thomas M. Ryan Center.

Fordham has lost six straight games, and eight of its last nine overall. The Bronx-based Rams are coming off a tough 64-62 loss to La Salle, which set them back to a conference-worst 2-12 in league play. Fordham is 9-18 overall on the season.

Rhode Island had been going through the exact same type of spell, losing six in a row before a Feb. 22 victory over St. Bonaventure put a stop to the bleeding. Since then, the Rams have won two of their last three games, and are coming off a 66-43 victory over Richmond on Saturday. Rhode Island is 4-11 in A-10 play this season.

Rhode Island has a 34-25 all-time series lead over Fordham, but the lead was closed just a bit when Fordham stole an 85-79 victory over Rhode Island in New York back on Feb. 1.

Fordham was on the wrong side of a momentous victory for La Salle this past Saturday, as Explorers guard Tyreek Duren hit a game-winning layup as the final buzzer sounded to break a 62-62 tie that gave La Salle the victory and pushed Fordham's losing streak to six games. Branden Frazier led all Rams scorers in the contest with 23 points, adding six assists and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free-throw line to his stat sheet. Jon Severe was the only other Rams player in double figures, netting 10 points in the tough loss. Ryan Canty grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for Fordham.

Severe and Frazier have spent most of this season trying to keep Fordham afloat, but have also been battling back and forth as the team's leading scorers. Severe tops the squad at the moment with an 18.3 ppg average, but is shooting just 34.3 percent from the floor. Frazier is on his heels, netting 17.4 ppg with a team-leading 114 assists on the year, adding 5 rpg. Mandell Thomas is the third and final double-digit scorer on the team this season at 12.5 ppg. Ryan Rhoomes leads the Rams with 7.1 rpg and 24 blocked shots, and Thomas adds a team-best 44 steals to his resume.

Rhode Island's final regular-season contest will be Wednesday against Fordham. The Rams are coming off a victory over Richmond in which they held the Spiders to a season-low 43 points (Richmond's previous low was 57). E.C. Matthews led all Rhode island scorers in the contest with 10 points, while Xavier Munford chipped in with 15. Gilvydas Biruta notched a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, while Hassan Martin tallied a double-double of his own with 10 points and 13 boards.

Munford tops the Rhode Island squad with 16.6 ppg on 39.3 percent shooting from the floor. Munford's 73 assists and 35 steals are both Rams highs this season, but his team-high 79 turnovers has been an issue. Matthews checks in behind Munford in scoring at 14.2 ppg, and Biruta is third with 11 ppg and a team-best 7 rpg. Martin has blocked a team-high 69 shots on the season.

Fordham has really struggled recently to put anything together, and although the Rams defeated Rhode Island at home earlier this season, their dismal 2-11 road record will likely show its ugly head once again in Kingston.
