GAME NOTES: Still in search of their first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference victory of the season, Saint Peter's steps into Webster Bank Arena to tangle with the Fairfield Stags.

Saint Peter's has opened conference play 0-4 for the first time since 2001-02. The Peacocks have dropped six of their last eight outings overall, including Saturday's 67-63 home loss to Canisius. The Peacocks will play four of their next five on the road.

Fairfield is back on campus after going 1-3 on its four-game road swing. The Stags concluded the trip with a lopsided 83-57 rout at Manhattan over the weekend. They won't be home for long, however, as they'll play at Iona on Saturday.

Fairfield has won the last five meetings with Saint Peter's and leads the all- time series, 54-49. These teams faced each other in the first round of last season's MAAC Tournament, and Fairfield closed the game with a 17-3 run to win by seven and advance.

Saint Peter's trailed Canisius by 23 points early in the second half before going on a 36-12 run to make it a one-point game with less than five minutes to play. However, the Golden Griffins eventually ended the threat with a deep 3-pointer to stretch the margin to 65-60 with 15 seconds remaining. Marvin Dominique led the way with 26 points and 10 rebounds in the loss, marking his seventh 20-point game and seventh double-double of the season. The junior is averaging a team-best 19.1 points and 9.8 rebounds. Desi Washington and Chris Burke joined him in double figures with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Washington (13.5 ppg) has picked up his play of late, averaging 17.4 ppg over his last six outings. Burke came off the bench for the first time this season and ignited the second-half rally with three 3-pointers.

Headlining Fairfield is the tandem of Marcus Gilbert and Maurice Barrow. Gilbert paces the squad with 14.4 ppg and 4.5 rpg, while Barrow is tallying 11.0 ppg and 4.9 rpg. As a team, the Stags are shooting just 38 percent from the floor and -7.6 in scoring margin this season. In fact, they have failed to eclipse 58 points in each of their last three losses. In last weekend's loss at Manhattan, Fairfield committed 18 turnovers and shot just 36.7 percent from the floor while missing 20 of 27 attempts from beyond the arc. Defensively, the Stags allowed Manhattan to shoot at a 51-percent clip from the floor. Barrow led the way with 17 points in 22 minutes off the bench, although he was the only player in double figures for Fairfield.

While neither of these teams are off to particularly inspiring starts, the Stags have had Saint Peter's number of late. Consider, the Peacocks are 1-15 under head coach John Dunne against the Stags, including 1-7 on the road.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Fairfield 64, Saint Peter's 58
