GAME NOTES: The Southern Methodist Mustangs will try to keep a five-game win streak alive as they travel to face the struggling South Florida Bulls in American Athletic Conference action at the USF Sun Dome.

Since conference play started, the Mustangs have lost just twice to Cincinnati and last year's defending champion Louisville. SMU has accumulated a 5-2 record in AAC play this season, and has already beaten USF once. The Mustangs are coming off a 75-68 win over Houston Sunday.

South Florida has lost four consecutive games, and six of its last seven altogether. The Bulls' 1-6 record in their last seven games has all come in AAC play - the only win coming over winless conference member Temple. USF lost its most recent decision to Memphis, 80-58.

The all-time series record between the two programs is tied, 2-2. SMU won the decision earlier this season at home, 71-54.

SMU was sluggish in the first half against Houston, shooting just 26.9 percent on the offensive end, and found itself down to the Cougars at halftime, 31-25. But a furious second-half comeback gave the Mustangs the decisive victory. SMU shot 61.5 percent in the second half, helped by Nic Moore's 28 total points, which paced the team. Markus Kennedy had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Nick Russell chipped in 10 points. The Mustangs shot just 2- of-10 from 3-point range.

Moore and Kennedy are the top two scorers for SMU this season as the only two players to average double digits. Moore leads the team with 13.4 ppg on 48.9 percent shooting from the floor. Kennedy adds 11.8 ppg on an impressive 52.9 percent shooting. Moore leads the team in assists with 91 total on the year, while Kennedy holds the top distinction in rebounding, averaging 7 rpg with a team-best 28 blocked shots.

Memphis earned its second win over South Florida this season by connecting on 10-of-22 from 3-point range, which put some distance between the Tigers and Bulls in the second half. Martino Brock was the only Bulls player to net double-digit points against Memphis, contributing 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting. The Bulls shot 33.9 percent from the floor in the contest.

Victor Rudd and Corey Allen Jr. are the two leading USF scorers this season, with Brock sitting in fourth on the team in that category. Rudd averages 14.4 ppg with a team best-tying 6.9 rpg. Allen checks in at 10.6 ppg and a team- leading 63 assists on the year. South Florida is averaging 66.5 ppg through 20 contests this season.

USF has the home advantage, but has struggled mightily in conference play this year. SMU should be able to keep the win streak going with solid guard play and tough defense.
