(Sunday, December 29th)

Final Score: Dayton 72, Murray State 51

Dayton, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Dyshawn Pierre recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lift the Dayton Flyers to a 72-51 victory over the Murray State Racers in a non-conference tilt at UD Arena.

Devin Oliver also registered a double-double for the Flyers (10-3) with 12 points and the same number of boards. Jordan Sibert added 11 points.

Cameron Payne led MSU (5-7) with 13 points and six assists. T.J. Sapp chipped in 12 points on 4-of-14 shooting from the floor before fouling out. Jarvis Williams finished with 10 points. The setback was the second in a row for the Racers, who are off to their worst start under third-year coach Steve Prohm.

Dayton took a 33-25 lead into the intermission after it converted 13-of-26 shots from the floor and tallied eight assists in the opening 20 minutes of action. The Racers could not keep up as they made good on only 2-of-10 tries from behind the 3-point line in the first half.

MSU continued to struggled after the break and was limited to just 34.8 percent efficiency from the field. The Flyers managed to extend their lead despite hitting on only 8-of-17 attempts at the charity stripe in the second stanza.

Dayton enjoyed a 44-24 edge in the rebounding battle which helped it outscore the Racers, 19-7, in second chance points.
