GAME NOTES: Final seedings for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament are still up in the air, as the Rider Broncs clash with the Iona Gaels in the regular-season finale at the Hynes Athletic Center this afternoon.

For the Gaels, they already have their place set as the top team in the MAAC, thank to a 16-3 mark, even though they lost to Manhattan in overtime on Friday night, 80-77, on the road. The defeat snapped an 11-game win streak for the program.

Meanwhile, there is still plenty to be decided for the Broncs who can finish anywhere between sixth and eighth in the standings, depending on the outcome of this game and those involving Saint Peter's and Marist. If nothing else, the squad is hoping to put an end to a three-game slide and win for just the second time in the last eight outings when it takes the floor today. Rider was defeated by Canisius at home on Friday night, 79-66.

In terms of the all-time series, the Gaels are ahead by a count of 28-23, thanks in part to a narrow 80-77 win in the most recent matchup just a few weeks ago in New Jersey.

Shooting just 7-of-25 from the floor in the first half against Canisius, the Broncs dug themselves a deep hole from which they were never able to climb out from a few nights ago. Jimmie Taylor and Anthony Myles both tallied 15 points, followed by Tommy Pereira and Zedric Sadler with 11 and 10 points, respectively, for a squad that allowed the visitors to shoot 53.7 percent from the floor.

A starter in all but one of the team's games, Myles paces the program in scoring with 16.1 ppg, with his team-best 50 3-pointers having a lot to do with his success. Daniel Stewart checks in with another 15.0 ppg and between him and Myles they've accounted for 313 of the program's 525 made free throws to this point in the campaign. Taylor's 12.0 ppg completes the list of double- digit scorers for a Rider squad that is posting 73.9 ppg, but giving up 75.8 ppg.

Iona led by as many as seven points in the first half at Draddy Gym on Friday night, but the game with Manhattan experienced nine ties and 13 lead changes and once that was all settled, the Gaels were on the wrong side of a three- point final. Tre Bowman was responsible for 23 points, Sean Armand 18 and nine assists and Isaiah Williams 15 points and seven blocked shots before fouling out. David Laury came off the bench to offer up 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds in the setback.

One of the top scoring teams in the nation throughout the season, the Gaels have turned up the pressure in league play and are now generating 85.5 ppg, thanks to the efforts of A.J. English and his 18.2 ppg. Playing more than 37 minutes per contest, English is also responsible for 89 assists in 19 league bouts to help move along one of the more unselfish programs in the country. Armand chips in with 16.3 ppg and another 76 dishes.

The type of offensive assault that the Gaels can bring to the floor every time they suit up is rather impressive, and you have to assume they'll want to put on a show for the hometown fans today.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Iona 81, Rider 73
