GAME NOTES: The high-flying Princeton Tigers look to continue their success against a struggling Penn Quakers team in the 2014 Ivy League debut for both teams on Saturday at the Palestra.

Princeton went on an eight-game winning streak earlier this season before a loss to Portland finally brought the Tigers back down to Earth. Princeton has won two in a row since that loss, including an 80-74 defeat of Liberty last Saturday.

Penn, on the other hand, has lost seven in a row dating back to Nov. 30, and is a dismal 2-10 on the season. The Quakers lost their most recent contest, 75-57, to fellow Philadelphia-based program La Salle last Saturday.

In an Ivy League steeped with tradition, Penn leads the all-time series between the school, 123-105. The last Quakers' win over the Tigers however, came on Jan. 30, 2012 at home.

Princeton led Liberty in the team's last contest at the half, but allowed the Flames to take a second-half lead that forced the Tigers to make a comeback effort. Thanks to Ben Hazel, Princeton was able to erase any Liberty lead as the Tigers went on to win. T.J. Bray led Princeton in the game, netting 24 points and securing five rebounds. Bray hit 8-of-11 shooting from the floor and tied the team lead with four assists. Hazel finished with 18 points, and was 4-of-8 from 3-point range. Hans Brase contributed 12 points in the win.

Bray leads the way for the Tigers this season in scoring, averaging 17.2 ppg. Although Bray has only played in nine games, he leads the team with 58 assists and shoots a deadly 54.7 percent from the field. Brase has played in all 13 games for Princeton, averaging 11.8 ppg and a team-best 6 rpg. The Tigers score an average of 74.8 ppg and only give up 67.3 ppg to their opponents.

La Salle simply outmatched Penn in every facet of the game, as the Quakers proved no match for the Atlantic 10 school. Tony Hicks and Fran Dougherty were the only two Penn players that scored in the double digits against the Explorers. Hicks poured in a team-high 16 on 5-of-12 shooting from the floor, while Dougherty collected 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting and grabbed a team- high nine rebounds. The Quakers turned the ball over 15 times in the contest and shot just 37.7 percent for the game.

Hicks and Dougherty have led the way for the Quakers all season long. Hicks nets 14.8 ppg, while Dougherty is close behind at 12 ppg. Hicks is the team leader in assists with 35, but has also turned the ball over 42 times in 12 games. His shooting percentage is a sub-par 39.1 percent, while Dougherty's is a healthy 53.8 percent. The Quakers give up an average of 78.2 ppg to opponents.

As Ivy League competition starts up, the Quakers may have to suffer through another tough loss as they take on a talented Princeton offense.
