GAME NOTES: The Miami-Ohio RedHawks have lost four straight games, and have been watching their season decline rapidly. They'll try and quickly turn things around as they host the Kent State Golden Flashes in a Mid-American Conference battle at Millett Hall.

Kent State has won two games in a row, and has been victorious in three of the team's last five games. The Golden Flashes are coming off an 83-75 defeat of Central Michigan Saturday in conference play, which lifted Kent State to 5-7 in the MAC East Division standings.

Miami has lost four in a row and five of its last six games. The RedHawks were defeated by Western Michigan, 68-57, on Saturday, which dropped them down to 5-7 in MAC play, even with Kent State in the conference standings.

Miami-Ohio has a very firm grip on the all-time series between the two teams, 86-46. The RedHawks hold a 49-14 record in Oxford, but Kent State has won two games in a row in the series.

Kent State took a nine-point lead over Central Michigan at the end of the first half Saturday, and never let the Chippewas back into the contest. Kellon Thomas and Chris Ortiz each netted 17 points to pace the Golden Flashes, while Kris Brewer tallied 14 points. Derek Jackson chipped in 13 points, and added a team-high seven rebounds and six assists. Mark Henniger rounded out the Kent State double-digit scorers with 10 points.

Jackson and Brewer are tied for the team lead in scoring this season, each chipping in 11.4 ppg for the Golden Flashes. Both of these players lead the squad in other statistical areas as well, with Jackson recording 50 steals on the year and Brewer added 74 assists to his resume. Darren Goodson is the third and final player averaging double-digit points with 10 ppg on the season. Henniger leads the team with a 5.2 rpg mark.

Western Michigan took a 29-23 lead into the half against Miami-Ohio on Saturday in the RedHawks' most recent outing, and the Broncos never looked back. WMU continued to build on the lead in the second half over Miami, and eventually ran to victory. Geovonie McKnight and Will Felder each netted 12 points to lead the RedHawks, who shot just 37.5 percent from the floor in the contest. Miami hit just 6-of-21 from 3-point range in the loss.

Felder leads the team in scoring this season with a 14.3 ppg average on 53.4 percent shooting from the floor. He's the only active RedHawks player to average scoring numbers in the double digits, with Reggie Johnson out for personal reasons. Felder also leads the team with a 7.2 rpg average, adding 19 blocked shots to his stat line. McKnight is just under double-digit scoring figures at 9.9 ppg. Quinten Rollins leads the Miami squad with 92 assists and 55 steals on the year.

Miami has had the edge historically in the series, especially at home. But in the last two games of the series, it's been all Kent State. With strong guard play and solid defense, Kent State should have the edge.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Kent State 69, Miami-Ohio 62
