GAME NOTES: The Campbell Fighting Camels and the Samford Bulldogs will meet this afternoon as part of the Global Sports Hoops Showcase.

A member of the Atlantic Sun Conference, Campbell entered yesterday's game against Auburn sporting a 1-2 record. To the surprise of everyone, the Fighting Camels were able to play tremendous defense and knock off the Tigers by a 61-54 final. Obviously, a win over a big-name team from the SEC should serve as a major source of confidence moving forward.

As for Samford, it owned a 2-1 mark prior to yesterday's competition, including a 79-68 decision over Auburn on Friday. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, they struggled at the offensive end last night and fell to Middle Tennessee by a 68-55 final. Samford is a member of the Southern Conference and will begin league play on December 2nd.

Samford owns a 14-5 series lead over Campbell, and the two programs used to be Atlantic Sun rivals.

While Campbell is generating 70.2 ppg on 48.0 percent shooting from the floor, including 36 percent efficiency from three-point range, the team is allowing 72.5 ppg. Eric Griffin is the only double-digit scorer on the roster for the Fighting Camels, as he is generating 14.5 ppg to go along with 6.5 rpg. There is one stat that jumps off the box score from yesterday's game against Auburn, as Campbell forced 24 turnovers, 10 more than it committed. The Fighting Camels also came through with a 17-8 edge in points from the foul line and limited the Tigers to 35.8 percent shooting from the floor. All of the positives enabled Campbell to overcome a 37-30 rebounding disadvantage. Amir Celestin scored 13 points off the bench to pace the Camels, and Griffin added 10 points.

The trio of Josh Bedwell, Josh Davis and Jeffery Merritt has been relied on heavily at the offensive end for Samford thus far. Davis is netting 12.0 ppg, while Bedwell (11.0 ppg) and Merritt (10.5 ppg) are close behind. The Bulldogs are generating a modest 63.0 ppg, but the team has been able to limit foes to 63.5 ppg on 37.8 percent field goal efficiency. Unfortunately, the team does struggle on the boards, as it is being outrebounded by five caroms per contest. Against Middle Tennessee yesterday, a 39-27 rebounding deficit was a major factor in the loss. The Blue Raiders had more turnovers than assists as well and shot under 40 percent from the floor. James Washington hit 3-of-5 three-pointers and finished with 12 points for Middle Tennessee.

Give the edge to Samford in this game, as it appears to be a slightly better team than Campbell at this point. The Bulldogs will put away as the contest progresses.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Samford 82, Campbell 71
