NCAA Game Summary - Michigan at Indiana

(Sunday, February 2nd)

Final Score: Indiana 63, (10) Michigan 52,

Bloomington, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - Yogi Ferrell poured in 27 points to lead Indiana to a 63-52 upset over No. 10 Michigan on Sunday.

"That was a great college basketball game, there's no question about it, because it's two teams that I think respect each other a great deal. They're an outstanding team. The pageantry of the game, the atmosphere was tremendous, there's no doubt about that," IU head coach Tom Crean said.

Ferrell was 7-for-8 from beyond the arc and missed only one other shot from the field for Indiana (14-8, 4-5 Big Ten), which has won two of its last three. Noah Vonleh added 10 points and 12 boards for the hosts.

"He's terrific," Michigan head coach John Beilein said of Ferrell. "He only took 10 shots, had 27 points, and ran his team, even in shot clock time he made big huge shots."

Derrick Walton, Jr. and Caris LeVert scored 13 and 12 points, respectively for Michigan (16-5, 8-1), which lost for the first time in 2014 and had its 10-game win streak snapped.

Walton nailed a trey to knot the game at 29 with 16:41 to play, however, Ferrell bookended an 11-4 burst with a pair of 3s to give Indiana a 40-33 lead with 11:27 remaining.

Michigan's leading scorer Nik Stauskas netted his first two points of the second half with 4:04 remaining with a pair from the line and brought Michigan within four.

Michigan did not make a basket in the final 1:22 as the Hoosiers closed out the last four minutes with a 10-3 surge to seal the deal.

Stauskas was 4-for-4 from the charity stripe, made only one field goal and tallied just six points in defeat. He was averaging 17.8 points per game so far this season.

Ferrell did it all early for Indiana as he shot 4-for-5 from beyond the arc with the lone miss coming with just under two minutes to play in the first half and despite the size advantage, his speed held a visibly frustrated Stauskas to a pedestrian four points.

Indiana held the advantage for most of the first half and the largest lead owned by either squad was four points. There were four ties and two lead changes in the fast paced half.
