Two late jump shots by Iman Shumpert have given Georgia Tech a stunning upset of Wake Forest. The Deacons led 76-74 against the winless Yellowjackets, but they failed to get a single shot on either of their last two possessions. Shumpert's first jump shot tied the game at 74 all. Then after a Wake turnover, Shumpert hit the game winner with one second left.
Georgia Tech's Gani Lawal led all scorers with 25 points. Beyond that, it was the battle of the Aminu brothers. Alade Aminu of Georgia Tech scored 10 points. His brother Al-Farouq Aminu added 17 points.
Georgia Tech's late basket marked the fourth time this week that an ACC game had been decided by a buzzer beater. Just three nights ago, Wake had beaten Duke in the final second. But now the Deacons have fallen a full game behind Duke in the ACC standings, while Tech has picked up its first conference win.
