Duke, UNC tied for preseason favorite in ACC basketball

Greensboro, N.C. — The ACC media couldn't decide between Duke and North Carolina Sunday, so the long-time rivals wound up in a tie for the preseason favorite in the league.
It's the first time in the 41 years of the preseason poll that two schools finished in a tie for first.
Both schools finished with 545 total points from media at the league's Operation Basketball. Duke had 25 first-place votes and UNC 20.
Georgia Tech got two first-place votes and Wake Forest one.
N.C. State was picked to finish 12th, with 76 points overall.
The preseason all-conference team was Maryland's Greivis Vasquez (45 points), Clemson's Trevor Booker (44), Duke's Kyle Singler (43), Virginia Tech's Malcom Delaney (24) and UNC's Ed Davis (21).
Singler was the pick for preseason player of the year and Georgia Tech's Derrick Favors was the overwhelming choice for rookie of the year.
By the way, UNC has been the preseason favorite 18 times and won the league 11 of those times. Duke has been the preseason favorite 12 times and won it seven.

lets see, this is a basketball post (not football) and your saying we were overrated last year??, not the best team in the country?, our NC was a fluke?..

no not overrated just didn't have any other powerful teams to compete with them. But it took this talented team 3 years to finally win. Actually thats been carolina's trend lately..choke with all the talent and wait til everyone else team has lose key players and rebuilding and then win...(ur last too titles)i guess it works huh?

Can't wait. So my Terps are 5th, eh? Well we'll see. Of course, they said we would finish 8th last year and barely get into the NIT. Mmm, think we exceeded those picks. Looking forward to playing UNC and Duke again. Seems we are beating one or the other each year. Should be a great season! GO TERPS!

Oh yeah, Duke fans NEVER resort to below the belt ! Your better than everyone attitude is the main reason why Duke is the most hated team in America, and you ain't the best. UNC and Maryland own the most wins against Duke since 1995. So just whine some more and face up to the fact your "hyped" team will choke again come crunch time, just as it has since 2002.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! That's cold...would hope that State will play in some form of 'post-season' tournament. Isn't there one more post-season tournament other than the NCAA and NIT?
