NCAA Game Summary - California at Washington

(Saturday, October 26)

Final Score: Washington 41, California 17

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Bishop Sankey ran for 241 yards and two touchdowns as the Washington Huskies easily dismissed California, 41-17, in Pac-12 Conference play at Husky Stadium.

Sankey carried the ball 27 times and also caught a pass for 12 yards for the Huskies (5-3, 2-3 Pac-12) as they snapped a three-game slide. Quarterback Keith Price converted 20-of-32 passes for 376 yards and a couple of TDs as well, while Jaydon Mickens reeled in six passes for a game-high 180 yards and both scores.

The Golden Bears (1-7, 0-5), losers of six straight, were led by Jared Goff who connected on 32-of-54 pass attempts for 336 yards and a score, but he was also sacked five times. Khalfani Muhammad accounted for a team-best 90 yards and a TD on a mere four rushing attempts.

Washington rattled off 17 straight points in the first quarter, beginning with a three-yard TD run by Sankey, followed by a 46-yard field goal from Travis Coons and then a 68-yard TD pass between Price and Mickens.

The first points of the night for the Golden Bears came courtesy of a five- yard TD catch by Chris Harper at the 12:48 mark of the second quarter. Late in the period the Huskies countered with a 59-yard TD run by Sankey to make the score 24-7 at the break.

Price accounted for a 47-yard TD strike to Mickens on the first possession of the second half for Washington, with a one-yard touchdown run by the signal caller coming later in the frame to boost the lead to 38-7.

A 10-play, 68-yard drive by California, which consumed close to four minutes and stretched into the fourth quarter, was capped by a 25-yard field goal. Muhammad also accounted for a 73-yard TD run for the Bears later in the period, but in between Coons added to the Washington advantage with a 42-yard field goal.

Washington, which entered the weekend ranked 24th in the country in total offense with 481.9 ypg, dialed up 642 yards on 78 plays. It was the third time this season that the Huskies have gone over 600 yards and was a very strong effort considering the team was limited to a mere 212 yards last week in the blowout loss to Arizona State.

Sankey, who had close to 200 yards at intermission, entered the weekend ranked fifth in the nation in rushing yards with 921, averaging just under 150 ypg on the ground.
