NCAA Game Summary - Arkansas at Ole Miss

(Saturday, November 9)

Final Score: Ole Miss 34, Arkansas 24

Oxford, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Bo Wallace threw for 407 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Ole Miss Rebels to a 34-24 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks in an SEC showdown at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Wallace converted 26-of-33 passes, was sacked twice and had a pair of attempts picked off as the Rebels (6-3, 3-3 SEC) notched their third straight win. Donte Moncrief accounted for a game-high 149 receiving yards and scored once on seven catches, while Ja-Mes Logan turned his five receptions into 110 yards and a TD as well.

With the victory the Rebels made themselves bowl eligible for the second straight year under head coach Hugh Freeze.

The Razorbacks (3-7, 0-6), losers of seven in a row after opening the 2013 campaign with three consecutive victories, were led by Brandon Allen who converted 18-of-32 passes for 193 yards and two touchdowns.

Arkansas scored the first points of the afternoon on a 51-yard field goal by Zach Hocker after the opening drive stalled.

Ole Miss kicker Andrew Ritter countered later in the frame with a 42-yard field goal of his own, adding a 19-yard conversion early in the second as well. Between those two successful kicks, the Rebels posted the first touchdown of the day when Barry Brunetti reached the end zone on a one-yard run.

At the 2:43 mark of the second quarter, Arkansas closed the scoring gap when Hunter Henry reeled in a 17-yard TD pass from Allen, capping a six-play, 80- yard drive. But before the first half could come to a close, Ole Miss answered with a 14-yard TD pass play between Wallace and Laquon Treadwell, building the hosts a 20-10 advantage at the break.

Early in the third the Razorbacks again cut into the lead, thanks to a Kiero Small one-yard touchdown run, but once again Ole Miss had a response.

In fact, the Rebels scored back-to-back touchdowns as Wallace hooked up with Logan and Moncrief on scoring strikes of 75 and 52 yards, respectively, in the final five minutes of the stanza.

Trailing by 17 in the fourth, Arkansas had one last gasp with a 20-yard TD pass between Allen and Julian Horton, but by then it was too little, too late.

Arkansas surrendered 531 yards of total offense on the day and converted a mere 3-of-12 on third downs.
