Albuquerque, NM (Sports Network) - Behind a career-best performance from Caleb Herring, the UNLV Rebels managed to outlast the New Mexico Lobos, 56-42, in a Mountain West Conference shootout at University Stadium.

Herring completed a 47-yard touchdown pass to Davis, which was shortly followed by another Gautsche rushing touchdown, this time from four yards out. UNLV recorded the last score of the back-and-forth half when Cornett rushed in a touchdown from nine yards out as the teams went into intermission tied up at 35-35.

The squads exchanged touchdowns in the third quarter, with Herring hooking up with Davis on an 11-yard score and Gautsche tossing a 43-yard touchdown pass to Wiggins.

UNLV orchestrated a 15-play, 80-yard drive in the fourth quarter, capped off by a seven-yard touchdown pass from Herring to Davis. The Rebels put the game away less than two minutes later when Cornett ripped off a 75-yard touchdown run.
