The start of the game was delayed 35 minutes due to lightning, and after a scoreless opening frame, Wyoming struck first early in the second quarter with a 10-yard rushing score by Miller.

The Cowboys added another rushing touchdown a few minutes later, this time a 13-yarder by Easton.

With less than a minute remaining before halftime, Smith connected with Spencer Bruce on a four-yard touchdown to give Wyoming a 21-0 lead heading into intermission.

The Cowboys picked up where they left off after halftime, as Smith found Rufran for a one-yard touchdown pass midway through the third quarter.

The shutout continued as Smith and Rufran hooked up twice more in the third quarter, once from six yards out and the other a 40-yard strike.

Idaho finally found the scoreboard midway through the fourth quarter on a 41- yard field goal by Austin Rehkow. The Vandals added a touchdown in the final minute when Baker ran in a one-yard score.

Despite owning nearly a 13-minute advantage in time of possession, Idaho was outgained by Wyoming, 564 total yards to 344.
