Greenville, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The East Carolina Pirates were able to cruise to victory against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes by a score of 58-24 at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Saturday's Conference USA contest, largely because of Shane Carden's school record seven touchdowns.

The Golden Hurricanes (2-7, 1-4) simply had no answer to the Pirates' offense. Dane Evans was 14-of-33 through the air for 142 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. Trey Watts had 27 rushing attempts that garnered 120 yards and a score. He also led the team in receiving with four catches for 48 yards and a touchdown.

Tulsa started the scoring early by getting into the end zone on its first drive. Watts capped off an 11 play, 77-yard, drive on a one-yard touchdown rush.

The Pirates answered back on a one-yard touchdown rush by Carden.

East Carolina struck again with a 28-yard touchdown pass from Carden to Cam Worthy to take a 14-7 lead.

With 6:44 before the half, Carl Salazar hit a 19-yard field goal to bring the Golden Hurricanes within four points.

With just over a minute remaining before the break, Carden connected with Jones on an 18-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-10.

Carden threw another touchdown pass, this time to Justin Hardy from five yards out with less than six minutes to play in the third quarter.

Evans connected with Watts on a 15-yard touchdown pass less than a minute later.

On the Pirates' following drive Carden hit Jones for a 25-yard touchdown pass.

East Carolina continued to pile on the points. Carden had a one-yard touchdown rush to put the home team up 42-17 with 12:53 remaining.

An East Carolina fumble, which was recovered by Will Barrow, was taken 37 yards for a score to give Tulsa a little life with 11:08 left.

However Davis Plowman made a 19-yard field goal, Bruce Williams caught a five- yard touchdown pass and DaShaun Amos returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown as time expired to give the Pirates the easy victory.
