NCAA Game Summary - Bowling Green at Eastern Michigan

(Saturday, November 23)

Final Score: Bowling Green 58, Eastern Michigan 7

Ypsilanti, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Matt Johnson threw for 264 yards and three touchdowns as the Bowling Green Falcons crushed the Eastern Michigan Eagles, 58-7, in a Mid-American Conference matchup at Rynearson Stadium.

Johnson converted 13-of-23 for 264 yards, was sacked four times and had a pass picked off as the Falcons (8-3, 6-1 MAC) won their third straight game. Travis Greene accounted for a game-high 126 yards and two touchdowns for the visitors.

Eastern Michigan (2-9, 1-6) was completely overwhelmed on the afternoon as the team generated a mere 65 yards of total offense on just 44 plays. Brogan Roback converted just one of his 12 pass attempts for four yards to Quincy Jones, while the signal caller and backup Tyler Benz were both intercepted once.

BGSU kicker Tyler Tate got the ball rolling early in the first quarter when he knocked through a 30-yard field goal, but just over four minutes later EMU actually took the lead when Sean Kurtz intercepted a pass and brought it back 10 yards for a touchdown.

From that point on the game belonged to the Falcons as they erupted for 55 unanswered points. The rout began with touchdown passes of 74 and 22 yards from Johnson to Ronnie Moore in the first, followed by a 34-yard field goal from Tate in the second period.

A 28-yard TD run by Greene at the 5:46 mark of the second was followed by a 34-yard TD catch by Moore to give Bowling Green a commanding 34-7 advantage at the break. Moore finished the day with seven receptions for 161 yards.

In the third, Green's two-yard TD run was followed by a 29-yard field goal from Tate. Late in the period Will Watson's 37-yard return of a fumble for a score pushed BGSU out to a 51-7 edge.

The Falcons took their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter, scoring only one touchdown as William Houston streaked 44 yards into the end zone.

The margin of victory was the largest for the Falcons since posting a 70-7 romp over Temple on Oct. 1, 2005.

Tied with Buffalo for the top spot in the East Division of the MAC, the Falcons will take on the Bulls this week in the final regular-season game for both programs.
