NCAA Game Summary - Washington at Oregon State

(Saturday, November 23)

Final Score: Washington 69, Oregon State 27

Corvallis, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Huskies rushed for 530 yards as it dismantled the Oregon State Beavers, 69-27, in a Pac-12 Conference bout at Reser Stadium.

The rushing total for Washington (7-4, 4-4 Pac-12) was its second-highest in team history, while its point total was the most since 1945. Bishop Sankey (179 yards, three TDs), Deontae Cooper (166 yards, two TDs) and Dwayne Washington (141 yards, two TDs) all topped the century mark on the ground. Cyler Miles was solid under center, completing 15-of-24 passes for 162 yards and a touchdown.

For Oregon State (6-5, 4-4), Sean Mannion completed 20-of-41 passes for 229 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions before being pulled for backup Cody Vaz (6-of-8, 79 yards, TD). Brandin Cooks (10 receptions, 117 yards, TD) saw plenty of looks with the Beavers down big, and in the process he became the school's single-season receiving yards leader (1,560). Chris Brown turned just seven carries into 73 yards and a touchdown.

Sankey set the tone in the game's first five minutes by scoring two touchdowns, one from three yards out and the other a five-yarder, to give Washington a quick 14-0 lead. It would add to that advantage before the first quarter was out with a 44-yard field goal by Travis Coons.

Coons connected on another field goal early in the second quarter, this time from 24 yards out. The Huskies kept piling on later in the frame, as Miles hooked up with Kevin Smith for a 28-yard touchdown to give them a commanding 27-0 lead at the break.

The rout continued after halftime. Sankey rushed in another score midway through the frame, this time from eight yards away. Cooper added a two-yard rushing touchdown at the 3:55 mark, and less than two minutes later the defense got involved when Shaq Thompson intercepted a Mannion pass and returned it 80 yards for a score.

The fourth quarter consisted of a lot of scoring that made no impact on the final result of the game. The Beavers got on the board early in the frame on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Mannion to Cooks, although the PAT failed. Washington retaliated less than a minute later when Cooper rushed in a one- yard score, and Washington added another rushing touchdown for the Huskies (32 yards) a little less than a minute later.

Victor Bolden returned the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown for Oregon State. The Beavers made it 14 unanswered points later in the fourth quarter on a three-yard rushing score by Brown.

Washington ripped off a 71-yard rushing touchdown on the Huskies' next drive, and the busy final quarter wrapped up when Vaz tossed a 33-yard touchdown to Micah Hatfield.

The 69 points allowed by Oregon State is the most it has ever given up in a game.
