Portland, OR (Sports Network) - Former All-SWAC defensive end Marquis Jackson will play his final collegiate season at Portland State.

Jackson was granted his release from Texas Southern University's program in the spring. He was an All-SWAC first-team selection each of the past two seasons.

Last season, the 6-foot-5, 275-pound standout from Northridge, Calif., had 50 tackles and six sacks while also ranking sixth in the SWAC with 18.5 tackles for loss.

Portland State, a member of the Big Sky Conference, finished 7-4 last season under second-year coach Nigel Burton. The Vikings will open the 2012 campaign on Sept. 1 against Carroll College.
