NCAA Game Summary - Ole Miss at Mississippi State

(Thursday, November 28)

Final Score: Mississippi State 17, Ole Miss 10 (OT)

Starkville, MS (SportsNetwork.com) - Jamerson Love's recovery of a Bo Wallace fumble in the end zone sealed the win for Mississippi State as the Bulldogs captured the thrilling 17-10 overtime victory against the Ole Miss Rebels in the annual Battle for the Golden Egg.

Wallace, who appeared to have a clear path to the end zone during the overtime possession for the Rebels (7-5, 3-5 SEC) was striped of the ball inside the five-yard line, leading to the team's second straight setback to close out the regular-season.

Wallace finished the contest 26-of-40 for 182 yards passing, but he was also picked off three times. The signal caller was second on Ole Miss with 31 net rushing yards, trailing Jaylen Walton who posted a mere 37 yards on 10 attempts.

The Bulldogs (6-6, 3-5), winners of their second straight overtime affair, were led by Dak Prescott who converted 11-of-20 passes for 115 yards, but it was his three-yard rushing TD in overtime that proved to be the game winner.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Mississippi State tallied the first points of the night when Josh Robinson made his way into the end zone on a one-yard run, capping a six-play, 30-yard drive.

The Rebels responded just over a minute later when a blocked punt was recovered in the end zone by Terrell Grant, knotting the score at 7-7 at the break.

Ole Miss took the lead for the first time in the third when Andrew Ritter knocked through a 22-yard field goal, but in the fourth MSU's Evan Sobiesk returned the favor with a 36-yard field goal of his own, leaving the squads tied at 10-10 as regulation came to a close.

Prescott, who didn't enter the game until the fourth quarter due to a shoulder injury that kept him out of action for the previous two outings, split through the defense for the go-ahead TD in overtime on a 4th-and-1 play.

The Bulldogs, who are now bowl eligible, pulled off the win despite producing just 296 yards of total offense.
