Hundley helps No. 17 UCLA past Colorado

Pasadena, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Brett Hundley had two touchdown passes and ran in two scores to lead 17th-ranked UCLA in a 45-23 victory over Colorado on Saturday.

Hundley went 19-for-24 for 271 yards passing and had 57 yards on 10 carries for the Bruins (6-2, 3-2 Pac-12), who snapped a two-game losing streak and sit in a three-way tie with Arizona and USC for second place in the South Division.

"The kid has looked burdened the last two weeks," said UCLA head coach Jim Mora about Hundley. "He didn't look burdened tonight. Colorado played hard and their quarterback played well, too."

Devin Fuller caught the two touchdown passes from Hundley and also had a score on the ground, while Damien Thigpen added a rushing touchdown in the win.

Sefo Liufau went 25-for-37 for 250 yards and a touchdown for the Buffaloes (3-5, 0-5), who have been outscored 244-89 in conference play this season. Tony Jones had a rushing touchdown in the loss.

"I saw great fight and great effort," said Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre. "I thought our coaching staff had the players very well prepared. We played a really good football team tonight and I hope that one day people are saying that about us."

The first quarter nearly passed without a score, but Colorado got on the board on a Will Oliver 23-yard field goal with 56 seconds to play in the period. Oliver had missed from 45 yards on the opening possession of the game.

It didn't take long for UCLA to answer, though, as the second play of the ensuing drive saw Hundley find Fuller for a 76-yard touchdown and a 7-3 lead heading into the second quarter.

Colorado countered with a 10-play, 73-yard drive that saw Liufau and Paul Richardson hook up on a 7-yard score for a 10-7 lead with just four minutes played in the period.

The Bruins came right back, as Hundley passed for 31 yards and ran for 26 on the following possession, with his final run finding the end zone from 11 yards out for a 14-10 lead.

It didn't take long for UCLA to get the ball back, as Ryan Severson fumbled the ensuing kickoff and UCLA recovered at the Colorado 14. Three plays later, Hundley found Fuller for a 6-yard score and a 21-10 lead with 6:25 to play in the half.

Oliver's 47-yard field goal with 1:16 to play in the half made it a 21-13 game at the break.

UCLA started the second half with the ball and added to its lead when Hundley took the ball in himself for a 1-yard score and a 28-13 advantage. The 12- play, 70-yard drive featured a 14-yard run from Hundley on 3rd-and-10.

Later in the third, a bad punt from Colorado saw UCLA get the ball back at midfield. The team took advantage of the short field, with Thigpen finding the end zone from a yard out for a 35-13 advantage with 1:24 left in the frame.

Jones' 2-yard TD run 2 1/2 minutes into the fourth cut Colorado's deficit to 35-20, but Ka'imi Fairbairn countered with a 45-yard field goal on the Bruins' next touch.

After Oliver hit a 37-yard field goal with 6:17 to play, Fuller put the game out of reach on an 8-yard TD run after UCLA recovered an onsides kick.
