GAME NOTES: The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns try to run their win streak to nine in a row this weekend as they clash with the ULM Warhawks in Sun Belt Conference action at Cajun Field.

Louisiana, which leads the SBC standings with a perfect 5-0 mark, has not lost since the second week of the season versus Kansas State (48-27). The team took a break from the action last week after taking down Georgia State on Nov. 16 by a final of 35-21.

The Ragin' Cajuns, who have tied the school record for consecutive wins, have just one more regular season outing after this as they travel to South Alabama the first week of December.

Meanwhile, the Warhawks are stuck in the middle of the pack in the Sun Belt, tied with Western Kentucky and Troy for third place with a split through six league bouts. ULM faced off against South Alabama last weekend and came up short in a 36-14 final. The defeat was the second in a row for the program.

Louisiana leads the all-time series by a 25-23 margin, and is 14-11 in games played in Lafayette over the years.

Kolton Browning threw one touchdown and ran for another last Saturday, but it wasn't nearly enough to keep up with South Alabama as the Warhawks took the 22-point road loss at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Browning converted 18-of-26 passes for 196 yards and also carried the ball 23 times, but finished with just 22 net yards after being sacked nine times. Rashon Ceaser responded with nine catches for 138 yards and a score in the losing cause.

Defensively, the Warhawks surrendered 217 yards on the ground and 424 yards of total offense to the Jaguars, while Hunter Kissinger and Cameron Blakes produced 12 and 10 tackles, respectively. Darius Lively responded with two stops for loss.

On the season, Blakes leads the team in total stops with 74, while Kissinger has made his way up the ranks into second with 66 tackles, even though he has come off the bench in five games. Giving the squad some punch in pass coverage is Isaiah Newsome who has four interceptions, returned for a combined 175 yards.

ULM's run offense is 105th in the nation with just 122.9 ypg and the unit's pass efficiency rating is only 112.57 due to the fact that Brayle Brown (one TD, six INTs) has been so ineffective in his appearances. Browning has tried to shoulder the load with 19 passing scores, while Ceaser leads the way with 59 receptions for 854 yards and four TDs.

Elijah McGuire made some headlines on offense for the Ragin' Cajuns the last time out as he became the first player in program history to have at least 100 yards rushing and 100 receiving in the same game. McGuire currently ranks second on the team with 686 yards rushing, leading to six touchdowns, just 112 yards off the pace set by Alonzo Harris. However, the big difference is that Harris has registered 13 of the team's 29 touchdowns on the ground.

As a unit, Louisiana is 20th in the country with 225.5 ypg on the ground, but it has been the play of quarterback Terrance Broadway that has kept the program moving along with so much success. Broadway doesn't have the flashy numbers, but he has converted 64.1 percent of his pass attempts for 18 TDs and just seven interceptions. Jamal Robinson is the top option down the field with 44 catches for 703 yards and seven scores.

On the defensive side, Justin Anderson leads the way with a staggering 103 tackles, almost twice as many as his closest teammate. In fact, Anderson has more solo stops (62) than anyone has combined tackles at the moment. Although, the man in second place with 54 tackles is Dominique Tovell, who has made 11.5 of those stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Destined to win the Sun Belt Conference title for the second straight year, there's no reason to think the Ragin' Cajuns won't simply take control of this meeting and get the celebration out of the way as quickly as possible.
