NCAA Game Summary - Miami-Ohio at Kent State

Kent, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Kent State ran for 300 yards and three touchdowns as the squad upended Miami-Ohio, 24-6, in Mid-American Conference action at Dix Stadium.

Trayion Durham led the way for the Golden Flashes (3-8, 2-5 MAC) with a game- high 109 yards and a score on 17 rushing attempts, while Dri Archer pitched in with 83 yards and a TD on 12 carries as the team snapped a five-game slide. Quarterback Colin Reardon converted 13-of-22 passes for 147 yards.

The RedHawks (0-10, 0-6) stumbled yet again, failing to reach the end zone while generating just 176 yards of total offense. Quarterbacks Drew Kummer and Austin Gearing combined to convert 5-of-14 passes for a mere 64 yards and an interception, with both signal callers being sacked twice. Gearing also led the group with 81 rushing yards on 24 attempts.

The loss was the 14th in a row for a Miami-Ohio team which last came out on the winning side against Ohio University on Oct. 27, 2012 in a 23-20 final at home.

Miami scored the first points of the night on a 33-yard field goal by Kaleb Patterson at the 8:34 mark of the opening quarter.

On their ensuing possession, the Golden Flashes marched 61 yards on nine plays and capped off the drive with a two-yard TD run by Durham to take the lead. With just under six minutes remaining in the first half KSU's lead moved to 14-3 when Reardon crossed the goal line from a yard out.

On their next possession, the RedHawks again turned to Patterson who finished off an 11-play, 64-yard drive with a 28-yard field goal, but still the visitors trailed at the break by eight.

KSU added a 20-yard touchdown run by Archer in the third quarter, as well as a 23-yard field goal from Anthony Melchiori in the fourth to put the meeting away.

While Miami-Ohio averaged a mere 3.3 yards per play, the Golden Flashes nearly doubled that with 6.5 yards per snap, en route to 447 yards of total offense.
