Tony Romo
Romo was the OVC Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight season in 2001, and also spent a second year as a Walter Payton Award finalist. The senior is the top returning vote-getter for the Payton, and will attempt to remain on that chart while improving on his 0-2 record as a playoff starter. Accuracy is Romo's forte', as he completed 66.4 percent of his passes and tossed 26 touchdowns versus just eight interceptions a season ago. With a talented supporting cast, including running backs J.R. Taylor, Andre Raymond, and a veteran offensive line, Romo's numbers should improve in 2002.
-Tony Moss

Indiana State head coach Tim McGuire on Romo, "He's the best. He's the best quarterback we play against. He's consistently been productive. He puts the ball in there to them. He stands in there and plays with you. He's not afraid to take the ball and run with it, and that kind of thing. He does a good job on their bootlegs and things like that. He's able to keep his eyes downfield and deliver the ball."
