Carr, Harper keep Fresno State unbeaten

Fresno, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Josh Harper had 17 catches for 253 yards and two touchdowns and No. 16 Fresno State beat Nevada 41-23 on Saturday night.

The Bulldogs are 8-0 for the fifth time in school history and first since 1989.

Derek Carr, who was 39-of-55 for 487 yards and three touchdowns, surpassed Kevin Sweeney late in the fourth for the school's passing yards record.

Davante Adams had eight receptions for 84 yards and a score and Josh Quezada carried the ball 17 times for 115 yards for Fresno State (8-0, 5-0 MWC), which has tallied 35 or more points in every game this season.

Cody Fajardo threw for 206 yards on 14-of-24 efficiency with two touchdowns and an interception, while accumulating 98 yards rushing on 17 totes for the Wolf Pack (3-6, 2-4), who have dropped four consecutive games for the first time since 2001.

Nevada turned a 17-point halftime deficit into an eight-point hole after Brent Zuzo nailed a 33-yard field goal and Fajardo found Brandon Wimberly for a 13- yard touchdown late in the third to make it 24-16.

Fresno State had punted on its first three possessions of the second half until Carr found Harper along the right sideline on a go route for a 32-yard score early in the fourth.

The Wolf Pack punted on their next touch, but Nevada's Charles Garrett recovered an Adams fumble three plays later. Nevada capitalized when Fajardo hit Hasaan Henderson for a 32-yard score to cut the deficit to 31-23.

Colin McGuire nailed a 40-yard field goal with 5:32 left to increase the margin to 34-23. Fajardo's pass to Wimberly on 4th-and-7 fell incomplete on Nevada's next trek.

Carr's 27-yard completion to Harper along the right sideline set the school passing mark before Marteze Waller scampered in from three yards out to cap the scoring with 1:29 left.

Earlier, Kendall Brock's 43-yard TD run on Nevada's opening possession staked the Wolf Pack an early 7-0 lead before the Bulldogs rattled off 24 unanswered points.

Carr flipped a 5-yard TD pass to Adams on Fresno State's ensuing touch and then ran in from five yards out late in the first to make it 14-7.

McGuire split the uprights from 30 yards out with 5:41 left in the second and Harper scored from 17 yards out on a crossing route with 35 ticks in the half to increase the advantage to 24-7.
