NCAA Game Summary - Kansas at TCU

(Saturday, October 12)

Final Score:TCU 27, Kansas 17

Fort Worth, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Thanks to a strong rushing attack led by B.J. Catalon, the TCU Horned Frogs took down the Kansas Jayhawks, 27-17, in a Big 12 Conference showdown at Carter Stadium.

Catalon finished with 91 yards and a touchdown for TCU (3-3, 1-2 Big 12), which bounced back from a loss at Oklahoma last weekend. Trevone Boykin threw for 173 yards with a touchdown and two picks on 14-of-22 passing. The signal caller was also strong on the ground with 71 yards and a score. David Porter was the top receiver on the day with 118 yards and a touchdown on four catches.

Kansas (2-3, 0-2) was paced by Jake Heaps, who was 13-of-26 passing with 152 yards, a touchdown and an interception. James Sims picked up 81 yards on 23 carries, while Andrew Turzilli led the way with 50 receiving yards on just one catch.

Kansas got the scoring started with a 37-yard field goal by Matthew Wyman less than five minutes in, but the Horned Frogs answered back by scoring on a 10- yard touchdown rush by Boykin less than three minutes later.

Jaden Oberkrom made a 44-yard field goal early in the second quarter to extend the Horned Frogs' lead, but the Jayhawks' defense countered with a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown by JaCorey Shepher with 8:55 left in the half, and the teams went into intermission tied up at 10-10.

TCU wasted no time after the half by scoring on its first play. Boykin hit Porter on a 75-yard touchdown pass to put the home team up, 17-10.

The Horned Frogs scored on their next drive as well after a Kansas possession was halted by a Sims fumble. The drive took seven plays and ended in a two- yard touchdown run by Catalon.

Heaps threw a 27-yard touchdown toss to Jimmay Mundine midway through the third quarter to bring the Jayhawks to within seven points.

With 2:34 left in the game, Oberkrom made a 37-yard field goal, putting the Horned Frogs up by two scores and effectively sealing their fate.

Kansas mustered up just 198 yards of offense on the afternoon and converted only 2-of-16 third-down attempts.

The Jayhawks have now lost 22 straight league matchups, with their last win against a conference opponent coming against former Big 12 member Colorado on November 6, 2010.
