Final Score: Northern Illinois 55, Purdue 24

West Lafayette, IN (Sports Network) - Jordan Lynch threw for three touchdowns and also accounted for one on the ground as the Northern Illinois Huskies routed the Purdue Boilermakers, 55-24, in a non-conference clash at Ross-Ade Stadium.

Lynch completed 18-of-25 pass attempts for 207 yards despite being taken out early in the fourth quarter (4-0). Lynch added 35 yards rushing as well. Juwan Brescacin caught four passes for 65 yards and a touchdown while Da'Ron Brown also had four receptions for 53 yards and two scores. Cameron Stingily had 72 yards on 15 rushing attempts.

Danny Etling threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns but completed just 19- of-39 pass attempts and was intercepted twice for Purdue (1-4). Rob Henry also saw time under center but completed just 5-of-16 attempts for 130 yards and a touchdown to go with two interceptions. DeAngelo Yancey caught seven passes for 116 yards, all game-highs.

Northern Illinois got onto the scoreboard first as Mathews Sims connected on a 44-yard field goal midway through the first quarter.

Purdue answered right back on its next drive when Henry threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to Akeem Hunt.

It was the Huskies turn to respond on the ensuing possession. Lynch completed all five of his passes on the drive, including a 15-yard touchdown pass to Brown, as the Huskies reclaimed the lead.

The Huskies added to that lead in the beginning of the second half with a 31- yard field goal from Sims.

Lynch's second touchdown pass of the game came on the Huskies' next possession. After the Huskies forced a three-and-out from the Boilermakers, Lynch threw a four-yard touchdown pass to Brescacin.

Lynch would add a third touchdown pass to his total before halftime when he connected with Brown again, this time from 17 yards out.

Purdue would get a 47-yard field goal from Paul Griggs just before halftime.

The Huskies didn't need their offense to get them off to a fast start in the second half. TommyLee Lewis returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for a touchdown and the Huskies had a 34-10 lead. Just over five minutes later, Jimmie Ward intercepted a pass from Etling and returned it 62 yards for a touchdown.

Etling did his best to make up for the turnover on Purdue's next drive as he completed a 16-yard touchdown pass to Posey.

After throwing for three touchdowns in the first half, Lynch scored himself on a seven-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.

With the game well in hand, Matt McIntosh took over in the fourth quarter under center for the Huskies and on his first pass attempt he completed an 18- yard touchdown pass to Tim Semisch.

Purdue would score on a one-yard touchdown pass from Etling to Justin Sinz with 5:27 to play but it was not nearly enough to overcome the Huskies' big advantage.

Northern Illinois finished with 524 total yards and 29 first downs despite converting on just 6-of-18 attempts on third down. Purdue had three sacks in the game.
