FSU, Ohio State 1-2 in BCS; Auburn No. 3

Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Florida State climbed to the top of the BCS standings for the first time in 14 years Sunday -- the predictable outcome of Alabama's shocking last-second loss to Auburn in the Iron Bowl.

Not so predicable? Which team would come next.

Ohio State, unbeaten in two regular seasons under Urban Meyer, moved to No. 2 ahead of Auburn and Alabama and into position to face Florida State for the BCS national championship.

Alabama tumbled from its cemented spot atop the rankings to No. 4 behind its bitter rival after Chris Davis' miraculous touchdown on a missed field goal at the end of Saturday's game gave Auburn the win.

BCS director Bill Hancock said the past weekend of games made it "easy to understand the benefits" brought by the BCS standings, which is in its last season.

"No matter where you live, you just have to watch it all," said Hancock.

Florida State is No. 1 for the first time since 1999, when it won the national championship.

The Seminoles (12-0) had a .9948 average, leading the Harris Interactive, USA Today and aggregate computer rankings. They play Duke in the ACC Championship on Saturday, a victory guaranteeing them a trip to the BCS Championship Game.

Ohio State (12-0, .9503) was in the top two for the first time since 2007. The Buckeyes also have one more roadblock -- Saturday's Big Ten title game against BCS No. 10 Michigan State and its stout defense.

If the Seminoles and Buckeyes play for the BCS championship, it would end the SEC's streak of seven consecutive titles.

Auburn (11-1, .9233) plays BCS No. 5 Missouri in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday.

Oklahoma State, Stanford, South Carolina, Baylor and Michigan State rounded out the top 10. Central Florida (No. 16) and Duke (No. 20) attained their highest ratings ever.
