NCAA Game Summary - Wake Forest at NC State

(Saturday, November 10)

Final Score: NC State 37, Wake Forest 6

Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - Behind 258 yards passing and two touchdowns from Mike Glennon, the NC State Wolfpack became bowl-eligible with a 37-6 win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in an ACC showdown at Carter-Finley Stadium.

Glennon completed 25-of-41 passes for 258 yards for NC State (6-4, 3-3 ACC), which won its second straight contest. Shadrach Thornton gained 110 yards rushing on 27 carries, and Bryan Underwood recorded game-highs in both catches (eight) and receiving yards (76).

For Wake Forest (5-5, 3-5), Tanner Price completed 18-of-33 passes for 113 yards and an interceptions. Michael Campanaro caught five passes, and he also threw a touchdown pass to Terence Davis, who finished with four receptions for 66 yards.

The Wolfpack lit up the scoreboard early in the first quarter following a one- yard touchdown run by Tony Creecy. They made it a 10-0 lead later in the quarter on a Niklas Sade 38-yard field goal.

NC State's lead ballooned even further in the final minute of the opening quarter. Glennon capped off a nine-play, 60-yard drive with a five-yard touchdown pass to Logan Winkles.

Wake Forest reached into its bag of tricks for its only score five minutes into the second quarter when Campanaro tossed a 39-yard touchdown pass to Davis. Following a missed PAT, the Deacons trailed, 17-6, heading into halftime.

After a stagnant second quarter, NC State got the jolt of energy it needed at the start of the second half when Tobias Palmer returned the kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown.

On their first offensive possession of the half, the Wolfpack added another touchdown on a 26-yard scoring strike from Glennon to Asa Watson.

Sade added a pair of field goals (49, 35) before the game was out.

Wake Forest gained just 185 yards of offense on the afternoon and had only nine first downs compared to NC State's 26.
