San Marcos, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Robert Lowe ran for a career-high 177 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries to lead the Texas State Bobcats over the Georgia State Panthers, 24-17, in a Sun Belt Conference matchup at Bobcat Stadium in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

The Panthers got on the scoreboard first with a nine-play, 75-yard drive on their first possession of the game. Bell punched it in from one yard out to put home team up 7-0 with 10:20 left in the first quarter. The big hit on that drive came on the very first play when Wilson took a reverse 47 yards to the Bobcat 28-yard line.

The Bobcats found the end zone late in the opening quarter when Nutall scored on a 34-yard touchdown run with just over two minutes left in the period. That capped off a four-play, 49-yard drive. Texas State added a 20-yard field early in the second, the only scoring in the quarter. With a late drive, the Bobcats had the ball 1st-and-10 at the Panther 23-yard line with just over three minutes to play in the half. However, Tim Gay was intercepted in the end zone on a halfback pass attempt which forced the Bobcats to settle for a 10-7 lead at halftime.

In a scoreless third quarter, the Bobcats missed another opportunity to add to their lead when they were stopped on 4th-and-5 at the Panther 30. A 19-yard field goal early in the fourth by the Panthers tied the game at 10-10.

Texas State regained the lead on their next possession, moving the ball 77 yards in eight plays, finished off with Nutall's second touchdown run of the night with 8:01 to play, this from three yards out. After the teams traded punts, Bell was picked off on fourth down at the Panther 39-yard line.

Five plays later, Lowe rushed it across the goal line from one-yard away to put Texas State up 24-10 with under two minutes to play. A late drive by the Panthers saw Bell connect with Robert Davis on a five-yard scoring pass with just one second left on the clock that set the final score at 24-17.

The Bobcats finished with a season-high of 296 yards. Defensively, they held the Panthers to 4-of-15 on third down, forcing them to punt seven times on the night.
