Raleigh, N.C. — Tyron Laughinghouse (R-Sr./Greenville, N.C.) and Derrick Manning (Sr./Waldorf, Md.) of Saint Augustine’s University were honored by the CIAA on Monday, Sept. 17, 2012, for their performances against Southern Connecticut State in a 30-14 football victory. Laughinghouse caught a short pass, sidestepped a defender and outraced the Southern Connecticut State defense for a 56-yard touchdown in the second quarter. The play started a run of 30 consecutive points for the Falcons, including a 24-yard touchdown reception by Laughinghouse in the fourth quarter.
Manning intercepted a pass and was second on the team with six total tackles. He leaped high for his second interception of the season at midfield on the last play before halftime. Manning helped key a defense which held Southern Connecticut State scoreless after the first quarter.
This is the first CIAA weekly award for both players this season. They each have won two league weekly honors in their college careers.
