Bowden on Butch: He can win a title at UNC

He may be experiencing tough times at Florida State this season, but Bobby Bowden knows what it takes to win a national championship. The head coach of the Seminoles takes his team to Chapel Hill this Thursday night to face a Tar Heels coach that he believes can take UNC to an elite level.
"Butch (Davis) is a tremendous football coach..." Bowden told The Insiders on 99.9 FM The Fan. "Butch ain't going to get up there and be happy to have a job. He's going to want to win a national championship. And if he keeps recruiting like he does, he's going to get in that fight."
Bowden admits that Davis is recruiting some of the same players that he's trying to bring to Tallahassee.
"We've recruited some against him at the University of North Carolina," Bowden said on Monday. "He is getting the big-timers in there."
Thursday night's game at Kenan Stadium is a match up of two teams yet to win an ACC game this season. Despite their combined 0-5 record in conference play, the Tar Heels have the league's best defense, and the Seminoles boast the top-ranked offense in the conference.
Florida State's offense averages 426 yards per game. Meanwhile the North Carolina defense allows only 237.7 yards per contest.
"Their defense is playing about as good as anybody in the country," said Bowden. "We're last in the league, and they're first. But, we just hope that somehow we can compensate."

I guess you never visit State and Duke blogs, do you? If not, do that once in a while just for kicks. You'll find QUITE A FEW posts from Carolina fans. And often, the very first post is from a Carolina fan.
That is why this is a smack talk forum. I hate to see a Duke or NCSU fan make the first post when UNC loses so I LOVE to return the favor. :-) I am not only a UNC fan, but a sports fan. I will watch any game that comes on. And for the record, I agree with Bowden. UNC gets respect in the National Media, so it is possible to get highly ranked and sneak into the BCS. Once again, just look at Boise State. Are they really the 4th best team in the Country?

I just love reading how WRAL has nothing but negative stories about State! Wait till Duke starts losing. They will be on them like flies on s$%^! Love it!
