NCAA to conduct inquiry on Georgia campus

Posted July 21, 2010
Updated July 22, 2010

Georgia associate athletic director Claude Felton says the NCAA has requested permission to conduct an inquiry on campus.

Felton says Georgia officials assured the NCAA it will receive full cooperation. He says the NCAA has asked that athletic association officials, coaches and student-athletes decline comment until the inquiry is completed.

Felton says the notification from the NCAA came late Wednesday afternoon. He tells The Associated Press the instructions from the NCAA prevent him from disclosing any details about the reason for the inquiry.

The inquiry comes as three SEC teams — Florida, Alabama and South Carolina — are investigating allegations involving improper contact with an agent.

I'm not sure I'd include South Carolina in that list. What have they ever won? But during State's 25 years of being lost in the desert, a LOT of teams have achieved more than us. Can't really argue against that.

I generally don't defend individuals on here. I defend comments from time to time, if I think people are attacking it unfairly. That doesn't mean I defend ALL of what he says (in other words, defending the individual).

Hope they are ready to lose that non-profit status if they do!

Maybe this whole agent mess will speed up the process of the major conferences breaking away from the NCAA

Marvin Austin is the Hub?? This is getting interesting. An agent's agent - deep under cover. Austin has a career in espionage after this is all over.

with the ncaa investigating all the top teams, it looks like state and dook could play for the nc.

One good thing in all this is that the NCAA is going after everyone involved, not just picking on Carolina. And they're not afraid to go after the big-time programs. They're also not afraid to go after Carolina. Zing!
