The ACC has ties to nine bowls. Eight ACC teams are assured of winning records, and Clemson (6-5), N.C. State (5-6) and Virginia (5-6) are in the hunt.
It’s an indication of the interest of Atlanta’s Chick-fil-A Bowl in UNC that the bowl had two officials at Kenan Stadium Saturday – and no other bowl had a representative in the press box. Carolina could still play in that bowl if it beats Duke, but obviously Saturday’s loss hurts. The bowl has the second selection among ACC teams.
The Gator Bowl picks third and the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando goes fourth. Both likely would have an interest in Carolina. …
Curtis Crouch was listed as a backup guard on the depth chart Saturday, but N.C. State coach Tom O’Brien said the former starter on the offensive line is no longer on the team.
“Curtis hasn’t lived up to the expectations of an N.C. State football player and so he’s no longer a part of the program,” O’Brien said. …
Saturday’s game had some empty seats and there were even some people selling tickets after the game had started. …
