ACC Weekly Power Rankings
1) Duke (17-1)-They will soon be #1 if they don’t overlook the Terps Saturday afternoon. Gerald Henderson’s offensive assertiveness carried the Blue Devils in wins over the Hoyas and Wolfpack.
2) Wake Forest (16-1)-The Hokies apparently have Wake Forest’s number now winners in 5 of the last 6 meetings. However, after a week off (love their schedule) they can bounce back in a big way when they host Duke Wednesday night.
3) North Carolina (17-2)-Steadily climbing back to the heights of where they were expected to be. The Tar Heels are still the most explosive team in the conference and country when they play the right way (use Larry Brown voice).
4) Virginia Tech (13-5)-Barring a collapse from the Hokies no one will be accused of being certifiably insane this year. By beating #1 Wake Forest the Hokies picked up the kind of win that punches your ticket to the big dance.
5) Clemson (16-2)-Wayne Ellington’s #22 will be retired in a ceremony later this season at Little John. Tigers have now lost 38 of 39 on road against ranked teams.
6) Miami (14-4)-For future reference when facing the Tar Heels the ‘Canes might want to guard #22. Seven straight three pointers I mean really after three straight don’t you make it a point of emphasis?
7) Florida State (15-4)-Leonard Hamilton misses Mark Richt’s offensive wizardry, but on the bright side Mickey Andrews has this defense playing at a high level.
8) Maryland (13-5)-Two questions constantly bother me about the Terps how does Gary Williams’ dry cleaner get those so suits clean and how do you lose to Morgan State?
9) Boston College (14-6)-Good week for BC, Georgia Tech was on the schedule.
10) NC State (10-6)-Absolutely…playing harder this year, but they don’t have a single go to scorer and that’s why they continue to lose late in games against better teams.
11) Virginia (7-8)-Good news for Dave Leitao, the owner of firealgroh.com has not set up a website in the basketball coach’s honor.
12) Georgia Tech (9-9)-Derrick Favors magic show continues to be the highlight of the Yellow Jackets season.
