A wild Wednesday in the ACC with two fantastic finishes has led to a bit of a shake up in this week’s addition of the ACC Power Rankings.
1) Wake Forest (17-1)-Back atop the ACC thanks to the last second win over the #1 Blue Devils. You got to hand it to the Demon Deacons administration best scheduling in the ACC, a week off before facing UNC and a week off before facing Duke and both games at home! Genius.
2) Duke (18-2)-Despite the improved play of Brian Zoubek, the Blue Devils are at their best playing a small more athletic lineup. Big Z logged just 13 scoreless minutes and two rebounds in the loss at Wake Forest.
3) North Carolina (18-2)-Still trying to figure out if it’s a bigger knock on FSU or compliment to UNC that Tyler Hansbrough had just 8 points and 5 rebounds and the Heels turned it over 21 times while shooting only 38% from the floor, but still won at FSU.
4) Virginia Tech (14-5)-The Hokies big three of A.D. Vassallo, Malcon Delaney, and Jeff Allen are combining for 50 points per game. Beamer ball has never looked so explosive.
5) Clemson (17-2)-No horrible losses, but no great wins either. Tonight they have a chance to get one at Virginia Tech.
6) Boston College (16-6)-Slowly but surely moving back up the ACC with by beating teams they should beat. Fortunately no more Ivy Schools on the schedule.
7) Florida State (16-5)-Defended the Tar Heels better than anyone for 39:57, but the final 3 seconds was really BAD.
8) Miami (14-6)-Suddenly skidding losers of 3 of 4, but good news ahead the schedule says @ Maryland.
9) NC State (11-7)-The Wolfpack finally showed some finish finally against a quality opponent. Now can they do it against an elite opponent in North Carolina?
10) Maryland (13-7)-It’s never pretty when the head coach calls out administration or administration calls the local newspaper to tweak the coach. The only thing uglier would be the Terps game at Duke this past week.
11) Virginia (7-9)-Somehow there is still no firedaveleitao.com registered. Al Groh must be furious.
12) Georgia Tech (9-10)-To keep fans from booing during timeouts, Georgia Tech should consider running highlights of Derrick Favors high school games.
